What happened that made you question atheism?
what are your convictions now that you are no longer one of jehovah's witnesses?
are you a born again christian?
have you joined another denomination of christianity?

What are your convictions now that you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses? Are you a born again Christian? Have you joined another denomination of Christianity? Are you now atheist or agnostic? I ask these questions because of a conversation I had once with my father who said "If none of this is true, then there is no truth." So I thought that his reasoning was pretty interesting, it kind of gave me a little insight as to how a Witness would react to learning TTATT. I've read a lot of experiences of former JWs who lose all faith in God and become atheist or agnostic, and I've also read other experiences of people who have become born again Christians or are practicing another faith. Personally, now that I've learned about the Society, things I never knew when I wasn't "awake", I am unsure of where I stand with my own convictions. And I'm sure this feeling must be normal with anyone who finds out about TTATT. But what made you become an atheist or agnostic or a born again Christian, or even join another denomination or religion? Did you find any questions you had about life finally answered with your new beliefs? Are you on a personal level, happier with your new convictions? Please feel free to share. Thank you.

regarding the recent 1975 video at the convention it hit me !.
when reasoning with people about the inspiration of the bible we used the bible writers candor ie/ there honesty when recording bible accounts about there personal mistakes .. how come the governing body despite its claims to be spirit directed are not honest about there mistakes ?.

They've only admitted for causing the hype over 1975 in the 1980 Yearbook, but that's the only thing
so i call my grandfather who has been inactive for several decades and he's at vacation in puerto rico.
the conversation is normal, we talk about how he's doing down there and how i am doing.
then he tells me that my cousin who i haven't seen in 5 years, is with him and asks if i would like to speak to him; i said yes.
Disfellowshipping should honestly be illegal

Then he tells me that my cousin who I haven't seen in 5 years, is with him and asks if I would like to speak to him; I said yes. So we told each other that we missed each other and that he told me that he's happy that I don't have a stick up my butt anymore and remembers how I would get upset over every little worldly thing he would do and thought that I was going to grow up to be a real Boy Scout. I made it clear to him that to me he was family even though the rest of our family was shunning him. He told me he wish he could've made it to family events but couldn't attend due to him being disfellowshipped. I told him that if we happened to cross paths one day, that I would greet him and not ignore him. He told me that it meant a lot to hear that from me.
It was really good to hear from him even though honestly a year ago I wouldn't have thought about talking to him. And it bothers me that a year ago I probably would've ignored him like the rest of my family does. It was a clear reminder of how much the practice of disfellowshipping hurts. I can't comprehend how that is humanely possible. But as I said it was really good hearing from him.

the second half of 1 corinthians 7:39 reads "...she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the lord.".
so we all know that scripture for being doctrine for witnesses when they select a marriage mate and how they are strictly encouraged to marry amongst themselves and look down upon or marked if they marry an outsider.
i have a friend who met a worldly man and when it came to light, her father gave her the option to end the relationship or to marry him, and she chose the latter.
@Giordano
wow that's a very interesting and encouraging experience! Thank you for sharing

The wedding seemed so rush (I didn't attend, I am only assuming through pictures I've seen) not all of her friends her relatives were in attendance, the attendance was actually very small. Her father who was a ministerial servant at the time was in attendance and because he was there, the body of elders viewed that as "supporting" her, so his privileges were removed. She was looked down upon by her family for having married an outsider and considered to not be exemplary in her congregation.
I thought all of this was very unfair, do any of you know of any similar experiences? What is the main interpretation of 1 Corinthians 7:39? I think it's very sad for anyone to be treated this way, ostracized by their family and friends for not following the "norm" or what is considered normal to them.

remember when we were jws and we'd hear from the platform, in conventions and on jw broadcasting that the things jws have achieved could only be possible with the help of the holy spirit?
yeah, well, i used to believe that when i was "in".
since leaving we all know this is bs, but today a simple, non religious, conversation lead me to see how stupid their claim is.. in my attempt to meet people and make friends i joined an international meetup group online a few months ago.
@Crazyguy
which book did Rutherford say this in?
growing up as a teenager, i would occasionally get some counseling for having my hair a bit too long by a couple of elders in the congregation.
one time i cut my hair shorter than usual and one elder said i was cutting it too short!
so it made me feel like anything i did wouldn't satisfy them.

One time I cut my hair shorter than usual and one elder said I was cutting it too short! So it made me feel like anything I did wouldn't satisfy them. Something I've always wanted to do is grow my hair out and donate it to anyone who needs it, but obviously I'm unable to because of Watchtower's stance regarding hair length, even though that's something that isn't even mentioned in the Bible about how your hair should be styled and what length it should be. And it's crazy because I can imagine myself doing it, but at the same visualize people look at me like I'm crazy or avoiding me or even counseling for wanting to do something nice for people who can benefit from it. Anyone know of a male Witness that's ever done this? I'm sure if it's done, this person would probably be disqualified from going out on field service or participating. We have this one brother in my congregation who was formerly an elder and wears a goatee but he is able to go out on field service and participate during the book or watchtower study. However, ask anyone and they'll say that this "brother" is "off his rocker" which I think is pretty judgmental. The whole grooming situation I'm sure can easily make someone wake up because of how complicated it is.
